Why I actually bought the medium membership

So, I have to admit that this is rather ridiculous, as my first story here ( as in not reply to something ). Any how let’s move on.

So, mainly, although this sounds a bit cheesy, medium was (is?) one of the best things that happened to me on the Internet. (don’t roll your eyes… yet!)

Let me tell you a short story about me, I`m a senior software engineer (architect) from a professionally point of view, and I really like to think that I`m pretty good at my job since, in my 8 years career ( as a payed employee ) I`ve never had a failed project (hurray!). But the truth is, I do not enjoy coding / programing. I find it rather ridiculous, boring and mostly bland. I got here more or less, by mistake ( a story for a another time, maybe …).

Well, this is not one of those boring, I had a dream post, so yeah, I like my job, or rather enjoy it. I like that, using my experience I can coach people, show them the human aspect of working for a software company, showing them that it’s not about the code, because it’s rarely about the code, it’s about the users, it’s about FIXING THE PROBLEM, it’s about FINDING A SOLUTION and scratching an itch that someone has.

Anyhow, I used to think that I`m the only one ( I know, right ? ) that has this feeling, that the … creative(?) in me was sort of captured in this awkward bland world of deadlines and faulty planning, and then came medium, a place where I got the opportunity to read stories and awesome ideas. For a long time, and yet still I mostly follow to amazing guys, Todd Brison and Jon Westenberg, which I noticed, although they are in completly different fields, and have different hurdles, that you can use your creative power, imagination, and mostly your personality to actually change your life. And by changing your life, I don’t mean quit or some other form of really big change, I mean small changes that actually rise your quality of life, your general feel. you know ( baby steps … ).

So, back to the subject, I think that, since medium had such an impact on my life ( I promise [ to my self ?], that I will start to share some of the changes that I went through.) this monthly membership is the least I can do to mostly support the platform, and from what I understood to also support some of the awesome writers here, which I haven’t even found up until now.
